--means "They Shall Not Pass!." .......No they won't :)
--means 'One last try and we'll have it.' This thinking has gotten many of my friends killed. Senselessly marching towards a hailstorm of bullets is how you lose the war.
Mon nom est Johnn Douay. Pour ceux qui ne sait pas, je suis une lutte française de tireur embusqué
sur le devant de l'ouest.
translation- My name is Johnn Douay. For those that do not know, I am a French sniper fighting on the
western front during World War I.
- To anyone new, I will be posting regularly on this site. You can find lots of information

--Today I made a kill that shook me up somewhat. I had to shoot a reporter and his son who were standing behind the enemies' trenches. I really didn't want to do it, but my job is to shoot anyone above the parapet, and my spotter is too obediant; he would report me for not obeying my orders. If the family of this man is reading this, I am truly sorry. It was just business.
--One of my friends recently, at least I hope it was recently, caught trench foot. He has to get his feet amputated, so he has been discharged from the service. I don't know if I should pity him or envy him. He got out of this nightmare, but at what cost? Anyway, he's supposedly going to be alright, but you can never be sure in this war. It put a scare into my other buddies; they are frequently checking their feet. I don't have time for that. Some rookie could expose himself at any time. Anyway, here is a link to his hospital pictures. WARNING! Not for the faint of heart! My friend's trench foot. Hospital pics

--I just got back from a rat hunt in the trenches. I got the biggest of the disease ridden beast. It was bigger than a cat!
January 5, 1916
--Sorry that I couldn't post on this blog for a while; the fighting was just too rough for me to spare the time. My country needed me, but for now there is a slight break in the fighting, so I am posting. I found this video on the internet that I am going to upload. It is a youtube video about snipers, which is what I am. It is a good informational video, but I am a little upset that it doesn't mention French snipers, like myself. I might just try one of those ghille suits; they seem like a very good idea. I am also proud that we (the French snipers) aren't a slow witted as the German snipers.
February 23, 1916
--What is being called the battle of Verdun has started. I, along with many of my friends, have been moved to this location in order to beat back the Germans. Steadily my kill number is increasing and today I discovered a goldmine of german soldiers. They were hiding out in the open behind their own trenches, and one by one I picked of every one of those beasts. As far as I am concerned, the Germans are worse than animals and I will continue to treat them as such. As of today, my kills number 207. 28 of which are well ranked German officers. I a quite proud of my progress.
February 25, 1916
--I have finally been issued a new rifle: the 1892/16 Berthier rifle. I just got it, so this picture is without my scope on it. I still have to swap my scope. I am posotive that, in my hands, this rifle will bring much glory to France and myself. I am one of the few frech snipers still alive in my squad, and that is because of the fact that I am one of the greatest. Even without my scope on, I have aready gotten 5 kills with this new rifle. That puts my total at 212.
September 8, 1916
--I am doing well and racking up more kills. The German's morale seems to be breaking, but beyond that, nothing beyond the ordinary has happended. I am still alive, and my enemies are not. That is all I need to say.
June 20, 1917
--Still not much is happening. Just the same old thing. My kills are now at 467 and climbing. I finally broke my infantry streak and killed and officer today. Past that, everything is fine. Here is a video that is somewhat like what I go through everyday. It is hard, being a sniper, when you know that you cause hundreds of things like this. As far as I'm concerned, they were being stupid and got what they deserved. The soldiers in this movie are British.
Here are some more videos. Fortunately, I never had to go over the top.
One of my friends got shell shock. He was discharged.
March 29, 1918
--All is well for me. My kills have finally broken 500, and I am presently at 538. I had a very bad luck streak, as German snipers discovered my location and almost killed me. Relocating took a long time, and after that I became very shaky for a time and couldn't pull of a good shot. After moving once again, I finally broke my bad luck.
July 7, 1919
--To those who have faithfully been following my blog, I am truly sorry. I, in a moment of confusion and stupiditiy, accidentally exposed myself to the enemy and have been shot. The nurses say that it is fatal, although I hope I am going to prove them wrong. They say that if I, by some miracle, survive, then they will ship me home. My wound is to my left lung, and is making my life very miserable and I am finding it hard to breathe. If I live, then you will hear from me again, but this will most likely be my last post. I will write my reaction to the treaty of Versailles, and then I doubt you will hear from me again. It is awful to die so close to returning home. Remember me not as a killer, but as a hero. Remember Johnn Douay!!!
July 14, 1919
--My name is Jaque Douay, Johnn's brother. I am sad to say that Johnn has died. He passed away on July 10, in the morning, and has yet to be buried. To all of his fans, you can visit his grave in Paris, France. I hope he has impacted you all in a posotive way. This will be the last blog posted on this website. Goodbye, everyone.
